The Conference Dinner will be a highlight of this year's social program and will be held at the Frank Grey Smith Bar at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is a comfortable walk from the Conference Venue.

Tim McCallum will be speaking at the conference dinner. Eight years ago, Tim McCallum, was accepted into the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, eager for a career in musical theatre.

But three days after arriving in WA to start his studies, an accident in the surf left him paralysed with C4 incomplete quadriplegia. After only six weeks in rehab he resumed singing lessons and while still in rehab he performed in a David Atkins’ spectacular ‘Dreamscape’ at the Melbourne Tennis Centre before thousands.

Since completing his rehabilitation he has performed in shows such as Sweeney Todd and Rent. Some of his onstage highlights include the Old Admiral of the Sea in HMS Pinafore, various roles in Les Miserables, Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, Riff in West Side Story and Rolf in Sound Of Music, for which he won a Victorian Theatre Guild Award.

Tim has toured his own one-man cabaret show around Perth, Sydney and regional Victoria.

Tim has received many awards for his craft, including the Centenary Medal from the Governor-General for outstanding service to the entertainment industry. He also received an Australian Humanitarian Award in 2005.

In his spare time Tim teaches singing and coaches basketball in his hometown of Geelong.

He has also worked with disabled and homeless young people, raised thousands of dollars for charity and is one of the ambassadors of Assistance Dogs Australia.
